AUS: Focus on an Exhilarating Experience
Ford Focus will take the fight directly to its competitors when it launches in late 2002 by offering a range of standard features and optional extras that are second-to-none.
Passenger airbags and ABS brakes will be standard on Focus LX, Zetec and ST170 and will be offered as an optional safety package on the entry-level Focus CL. All five models in the range will also feature power steering as standard.
"Focus is a real driver's car," says Ford Passenger Vehicle Marketing Manager, Stephen Kruk.
"This is true of its rally-bred performance and handling capabilities, which have been proven in the World Rally Championship, but also of the interior comfort and levels of safety that the vehicle offers.
"ABS brakes and passenger airbags add to the innovative control blade IRS system that offers superior handling characteristics and excellent safety and comfort. The combination results in Focus being a car that driving enthusiasts and their passengers are going to love."
Focus Zetec will also offer as an option Ford's VDC AdvanceTrac, a system that detects if the vehicle is drifting offline and uses intelligent control of individual brakes and engine power to bring the vehicle back on course.
Focus Ghia will take the luxury story one step further by the inclusion of a six-stack in-dash CD player.
"Focus isn't just about the luxury and safety features you can see and touch," says Stephen. "The elevated roofline and positioning of the wheels at the corner of the chassis have created more headroom and legroom for the driver and passengers.
"The seating position has also been raised to give the driver a commanding view of the road ahead and provide passengers with a better view."
Designed by ergonomics specialists, the quality craftsmanship and innovative interior design touches have created a cabin environment that is relaxing and solid in its feel. "It's these extra benefits incorporated into the design of the vehicle that help set Focus apart from its competitors," he said.
Focus will be offered in a range of colours*, including Capri Blue, Colorado Red, Diamond White, State Blue, Metropolis Blue, Machine Silver, Neptune Green, Pepper Red, Panther Black, and Imperial Blue.
