The man Ford brought in to run its own luxury-brand group appears to be on
the way out. Wolfgang Reitzle, head of Ford's Premier Automotive Group ,
will be leaving the second-largest automaker to join Linde AG, an
industrial gas and engineering group as CEO, senior Ford sources tell
TheCarConnection.com. He is to be replaced, according to numerous
insiders, by Mark Fields, currently the youthful chairman of Ford's
Japanese affiliate, Mazda Motor Co. Barring a last-minute change in plans,
the shake-up will be accompanied by other changes. Among other things,
Ford will wrest control of struggling Lincoln-Mercury away from the
London-based PAG and return it to the company's world headquarters in
Dearborn, Mich.
