Canada:Ford to buy Westport's hydrogen technology
Detroit News
VANCOUVER, British Columbia -- Ford Motor Co. agreed to buy hydrogen engine technology from Westport Technologies Inc. Vancouver-based Westport said the No. 2 automaker will purchase its fuel-injection hardware, electronic controls and engineering support, including a set of prototype hydrogen-fuel injectors. Financial details were not disclosed. Westport's injector is a hydrogen-specific version of its patented fuel system that allows diesel engines in light-duty trucks to run on natural gas. Westport, which develops technologies for gas-fueled engines, has already been collaborating with Ford on a natural gas fuel system.
