CLEVELAND WINS CROSSTRAINER ENGINE
Ford's Cleveland engine plant will build the powerplants for the upcoming
CrossTrainer crossover vehicle, Ford announced on Friday. The plant will
receive a total of $350 million in upgrades to produce the unspecified
engine, which will be available with a continuously variable transmission.
" 'Cleveland Power' has always been a sign of excellence in Ford
vehicles," Cisco Codina, general marketing manager of Ford Division, told
the media at the Cleveland auto show, where the announcement was made. The
CrossTrainer enters production at Ford's Chicago plant in early 2004.
