E.U.:Ford to invest millions in Belgian assembly plant
By Detroit News staff reports, Bloomberg News and wire services
BRUSSELS, Belgium -- Ford Motor Co. will invest "hundreds of millions" of dollars at its Genk plant in the coming years, a move intended to end weeks of labor unrest at the plant that had temporarily closed down a sister plant in Britain as well.
Ford's decision to produce the latest version of the Mondeo family car in Genk was welcomed by the government, three weeks after management said it would cut the work force of 9,000 by a third.
