E.U.:Jaguar Dervs Up Two Treats
Auto Express
There's a double diesel delight on the way from Jaguar. After taking an age to get into derv, the firm is making up for lost time by launching the first oil-burning X-Type alongside its brand new V6 diesel engine.
The new Jag - which Auto Express caught filling up at the black pump in issue 744 - will use a modified Ford TDCi motor, expected to develop around 140bhp.
Meanwhile, the new 2.7-litre V6 202bhp unit (image, bottom left) is set to debut in the S-Type in 2004, while a more powerful engine, based on the same block, should appear in the XJ saloon by 2005. The new motor will be built at parent company Ford's Dagenham plant in Essex, and is the third created in collaboration with PSA Peugeot Citroen as part of a lightweight diesel engine project.
