Ford Friday Night Centennial Concert Cancelled
Centennial celebration concert with Earth, Wind & Fire and the Detroit Symphony Orchestra has been cancelled due to extremely wet ground conditions. For the comfort of concert guests, crews are working to dry the Centennial Theatre grounds in time for Saturday night’s Beyonce Knowles concert. Ford’s Centennial celebration will remain open for ticket holders Friday evening until 8 p.m.
Beyonce Knowles, Friends and Family will perform Saturday at 9 p.m. as scheduled. This concert will be Knowles’ first concert featuring material from her new album and will be broadcast nationally on Pay-Per-View. The fireworks originally scheduled for Friday will follow Sunday evening’s concert with country music superstar Toby Keith and Blake Shelton starting at 7 p.m.
“We regret any inconvenience the cancellation of Friday night’s concert may cause. We are working to ensure that our Centennial guests attending Saturday’s and Sunday’s concerts are as comfortable as possible,” said Gary Nielsen, executive director Centennial operations.
Centennial passes entitle pass-holders to attend all public events through June 16. The pass remains an excellent value. However, customers may return their pass and request a refund up until 9 p.m. Friday June 13 at the Lifestyle Café in Dearborn’s Fairlane Mall.
