Ford Has No "plan B"
FORD HAS NO "PLAN B"
"We don't have any other cuts in mind," Ford's number-two executive,
President and COO Nick Scheele, stressed during an interview Thursday. That might
appear a contradiction to comments made by CFO Allan Gilmour earlier in the
week, but Scheele added that the turnaround plan he put together is "not cast
in stone," and there could be "little pocket(s)" that need to be revised as
the revitalization program moves ahead. For one thing, every time someone
retires, Scheele noted, the automaker studies whether the position needs to be
refilled. But Gilmour's statement was "not a signal" of big cuts to come, nor
any indication that Ford might have to move to a tougher "Plan B" than the
one Scheele first revealed in January.
