WASHINGTON -- C. Tab Turner, the Arkansas attorney under federal investigation for possible violations of campaign finance law, is the subject of a movie being developed by Michael Douglas' production company.
Douglas spokesman Allen Burry said the company, Furthur Films, is looking for a screenwriter and a director. Douglas hopes to play Turner in the film, tentatively titled "Blood Highway," about the attorney's legal battles against Ford Motor Co. and Bridgestone/Firestone Inc.
"That is the idea, but we don't have a script yet," Burry said. "We have to get it first."
Burry said Douglas decided to get involved in the project after being approached with a copy of the upcoming book, "Tragic Indifference: One Man's Battle with the Auto Industry Over the Dangers of SUVs." It is scheduled for release in November by publisher HarperBusiness.
Law enforcement sources have said that the Justice Department is investigating donations made by employees of Turner's law firm to North Carolina Sen. John Edwards' presidential campaign.
Federal law prohibits contributors from funneling campaign donations through someone else.
