Ford Nixes Focus Recall
The Daily Auto Insider
September 6, 2002
Ford says it isn't planning to issue early safety recalls for its Focus subcompact, despite a number of investigations into possible defects in the car by the National Highway Safety Administration, The Wall Street Journal reported, citing a company executive.
NHTSA is currently investigating the complaints about under-hood fires, stalling engines, broken suspension pieces, bad wheel bearings and air bags that deploy unexpectedly.
Ford has recalled the Focus nine times in North America since its launch. Still, Ford contends it has fixed many quality problems that have plagued the car.
