Ford's "new" policy on oil changes ?

According to some recent news articles: "Ford Motor Co. became the latest manufacturer to extend its oil life guidelines, making public that it is raising the recommended oil change interval from 5,000 miles to 7,500 on its newly redesigned 2007 models and all subsequent redesigned or new models."

Is this now an official Ford policy (and procedure for us to follow) for 2007 models? The service guy at my dealer knows nothing about this. Does anyone know whether this has been implemented at Head Office yet ???

Cheers - Daniel (2007 Sport Trac)

Re: Ford's "new" policy on oil changes ?

They say 3-5K for the first oil change then after that it's 7.5K to my knowledge. Some drain intervals are longer than others because of the use of synthetic oils. I run Amsoil in my Durango and it's good to 7.5K or extended life which is good to 15K with a filter change only at 7.5K.
