Ford adds 700 to staff at Indian plant
BANGALORE, India — Ford Motor Co. hired 700 workers at an Indian plant to double its production capacity to 100,000 cars a year. Ford India’s factory builds the Ikon and will switch to a double eight-hour shift later this month with a total work force of 1,700 employees. Ford entered the Indian market in 1995 with the Escort model. It now markets three models in the country and exports output to China and other Asian markets.
