Jaguar planning four-door concept with coupe-like styling
March 26, 2003
By AUTOWEEK
Jaguar plans a four-door concept with coupe-like styling, possibly called the F-Type (again?), for the 2004 Detroit auto show. Designs are in the early stages for the model, which will give clues to the styling of the XK8 replacement due in 2005.
A key part of the concept idea is to gauge reaction in the U.S. market to a more modern styling direction for the traditional XK, based on the Concept R shown at Frankfurt in 2001.
Jaguar had planned a production debut of the new-look F-Type, mid-engined two-seater in late 2004, but financial woes led to a decision to cancel that project.
