Reitzle: Pag On Track
Ford's cost-cutting measures shouldn't be hastened at the company's
Premier Automotive Group, says its chairman, Wolfgang Reitzle. Reitzle
told German daily Welt am Sonntag that the premium brands - Jaguar, Aston
Martin, Land Rover and Volvo - had a strategy in place that would be
better served by postponing cuts: ".It would not be clever if cutbacks
were brought forward,'' he said. Ford's massive cuts include slicing some
35,000 jobs and five plants, and, the weekly reported last week, means
that Lincoln may not get a dedicated platform for future products as had
been planned. In the fourth quarter, PAG parent Ford lost $5.5 billion.
