Jaguar European unit’s output to be cut
LONDON — Ford Motor Co. plans to cut Jaguar car production this year in an effort to trim losses at its European luxury-vehicle unit that includes Land Rover, Aston Martin and Volvo. The company met with the Transport & General workers union this week to discuss a plan to reduce production for the remainder of the year, said Ford spokesman Don Hume. Jaguar planned to build around 125,000 cars this year, and the company declined to say how much output would be cut. Slower sales and higher costs contributed to a $362 million second-quarter pretax loss at Ford’s Premier Automotive Group.
