Volvo launches gull wing female-designed car

Swedish car company Volvo today will claim to be breaking new ground for women when it launches a car specifically designed for females by females, writes Terry Macalister.
The vehicle, named Your Concept Car, is said to have easier access and improved visibility as well as "easy-clean paint". It also features "gull wing" doors and interchangeable carpets and seating.
The car has been put together by exterior designer Anna Rosen and deputy technical project manager Lena Ekeland, among others. The company, which is now owned by Ford, has plans to increase the number of its female managers from 15% of the workforce to 20%, and is urging others to follow suit. In Britain, only 8% of manufacturing staff are women, but females make up 45% of the total workforce
