U.S. court says Ford entitled to cleanup costs
Reuters
DETROIT -- A U.S. federal court said Tuesday that the government should reimburse Ford Motor Co. for the cost of cleaning up chemical waste at a Michigan plant that built military airplanes during World War II.
The verdict from the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Federal Circuit reverses an earlier decision by a claims court.
A Ford spokesman said he could not disclose the total payment the company was seeking from the government.
Ford produced the B-24 Liberator bomber for the U.S. government at the Willow Run plant in Ypsilanti during World War II, according to court documents.
