Ford Edge carries $25,995 base price

DETROIT -- The Ford Edge front-drive crossover will have a base price of $25,995, including shipping, when it reaches showrooms in November, Ford Motor Co. said today.
That base price is for the Edge SE. An SE with all-wheel drive will have a base price of $27,645, including shipping.
The Edge also will be sold in an SEL trim level, which will have a base price of $27,990 for the front-drive version and $29,640 for the all-wheel-drive version.
As a comparison, the 2006 Nissan Murano crossover has a base price of $28,205 for the fwd version of the S trim level. The awd Murano S has a base price of $29,805. Those prices include shipping.
The Edge is powered by a 3.5-liter V-6 engine rated at 265 hp and 250 pounds-feet of torque. The engine is mated to a six-speed automatic transmission.
Standard equipment includes stability control with a rollover sensor, side curtain airbags, a 60-40 split second-row seat with seat backs that fold flat and 17-inch aluminum wheels.
The options list includes heated seats, automatic climate control, rear-seat entertainment and navigation.
The Edge will be built in Oakville, Ontario. The plant also will build a version for Lincoln, the MKX.
