DEARBORN, Mich. -- It's already a given that a Ford Motor Company vehicle will win the 2005 North American Truck of the Year (TOTY) award since all three finalists are from the company's truck lineup.
Ford and Land Rover swept the nominations for the TOTY trophy with the Ford Escape Hybrid, Ford Freestyle and Land Rover LR3 vying for the overall honor. Ford Motor Company is the first manufacturer ever to sweep an entire category.
The three were selected from a list of a dozen new light truck vehicles introduced in North America during the past year.
In addition, the 2005 Ford Mustang is one of three finalists for the North American Car of the Year (COTY) honor. Competitors for the COTY award are the Chevrolet Corvette and the Chrysler 300C.
The winner will be announced Jan. 9, 2005 at the North American International Auto Show in Detroit.
Three Ford Motor Company vehicles -- the Ford Escape Hybrid (top), Ford Freestyle and Land Rover LR3 -- are the only finalists for the 2005 North American Truck of the Year Award.
