Ford plant explosion injures two, but is contained

DETROIT -- Ford Motor Co. on Thursday said an explosion at a Michigan r&d office that injured two people has been contained.
The explosion occurred in a glass laboratory container at Ford's Research and Innovation Center in Dearborn, Ford said.
The two people who were injured were transferred to a hospital for treatment, while three others were taken for observation, the automaker said.
Employees in the building were evacuated but have since been permitted to return.
"Employees now have been allowed back in the building and are being allowed to go home or return to work," Ford said in a a statement. "The air in the building has been checked and declared safe."
