The 2007 Ford Shelby GT, a production version of the GT-H, will be priced from $36,970.
DEARBORN, Mich. — The 2007 Ford Shelby GT, a production version of the popular Hertz rental-only Shelby GT-H model, will go on sale in January with a starting price of $36,970, including shipping.
The first Ford Shelby GT will hit the auction block on January 20 at the Barrett-Jackson Scottsdale collector car event. Proceeds will benefit the Carroll Shelby Children's Foundation.
The newest member of the Shelby corral gets a 325-horsepower 4.6-liter V8 and will be slotted above the 300-hp Mustang GT. The Mustang GT is priced from around $26,000 while the Shelby GT500 starts at around $41,000.
Ford said the Shelby GT models will begin as stock Mustang GTs assembled in Flat Rock, Michigan. The cars are then shipped to the Shelby Automobiles facility in Las Vegas for modifications, including installation of the Ford Racing Handling Pack.
What this means to you: A slightly more affordable Shelby, for those who can't quite make the stretch for the likes of the GT500.
