Jag considering diesel XJ for U.S.
Jaguar sources say the company is considering bringing a diesel XJ to the United States, possibly by 2008. The likely engine would be the 2.7-liter 204-hp, 321-lb-ft V6 twin-turboĀ*diesel it plans to offer in European XJ models.
āThereās potential for lots of demand for diesels in the U.S.,ā says Jaguar and Land Rover chief engineer Al Kammerer, ābut first weāve got to cross plenty of technical hurdles.ā
Next yearās introduction of low-sulfur diesel in the U.S. is the first step, but Jaguar will also have to develop a urea-based catalyst that scrubs smog-forming nitrogen oxides.
If the American public buys into a diesel XJ, donāt be surprised if an oil burner shows up in the XK8 sports car; a diesel is penciled in on the XK8 plan for 2009-10.
My first car was a 67 Mustang Coupe, 2nd one was a 67 Cougar XR-7, 3rd one was a 66 Mustang Coupe. Why did I get rid of these cars for ? I know why, because I'm stupid, stupid, stupid.
My next Ford.....
