DEARBORN, Mich. — Lincoln is tapping into what it figures is the secret desire of the automotive media to be secret agents for a day, as it celebrates the premiere of Casino Royale later this month.
The Ford brand will host a daylong program for automotive media on November 16 that includes an evasive and tactical driving session, marksmanship training and martini making at the Motor City Casino in Detroit. The day will end with a screening of Casino Royale in Dearborn. Journalists will drive the new Lincoln products — the MKX, MKZ and the Lincoln Navigator L — throughout the day.
As part of the program, Lincoln will show off its new interactive Internet community that it says "will be a home for individuals to find inspiration and content on how to achieve their dreams." The Web initiative will launch on November 20. The movie makes its debut on November 17.
What this means to you: Product placement has officially taken the next great leap. It appears as though you don't have to even have your product in the movie to leach off its marketing potential.
My first car was a 67 Mustang Coupe, 2nd one was a 67 Cougar XR-7, 3rd one was a 66 Mustang Coupe. Why did I get rid of these cars for ? I know why, because I'm stupid, stupid, stupid.
My next Ford.....
