Magazine names Ford's Hazel corporate exec of the year

DETROIT -- Ford Division president Darryl Hazel has been named corporate executive of the year by Black Enterprise Magazine in its September issue.
Hazel, 57, on Sept. 1 assumes the new title of vice president of marketing, overseeing the Ford, Lincoln and Mercury brands. Ford Motor Co. this month announced the reorganization of its Ford, Lincoln and Mercury sales and marketing operations. Hazel also is a Ford Motor Co. vice president.
He previously was president of Lincoln Mercury, a job he held since August 2002. He led Ford's customer's service division from 2001 to 2002. Hazel started at Ford in 1972.
Alan Hughes, Black Enterprise's features editor, said in a statement: "Over a 29-year period, Hazel excelled in a series of managerial positions, from sales and marketing to strategic management and product development, which made him one of the industry's most knowledgeable and accomplished executives."
