In reassigning exec, Ford trims officers -- again

DETROIT -- Ford Motor Co. eliminated another corporate officer position Thursday by reassigning one of its vice presidents.

Deborah Coleman, 53, who had been vice president of global quality, will become executive director of quality for the Americas, effective April 1.

Another Ford vice president, Bennie Fowler, 49, will assume oversight of Coleman's global quality duties in addition to his existing responsibilities. Fowler had been vice president of advanced manufacturing engineering for the Americas.

With Coleman's reassignment, Ford will meet its goal to reduce its officer ranks by 12 percent by March 31, spokesman Tom Hoyt said.

The 12 percent officer reduction is one of the objectives Ford set when it announced its Way Forward North American restructuring plan on Jan. 23.

As of April 1, Ford will have 48 corporate officers. That is down from 53 on Jan. 23. Including a vice president position eliminated in the product development and engineering organization last fall, Ford says it has cut six officer positions to fulfill that 12 percent goal.

Other officer reductions since Jan. 23 have included the retirements of Vice Chairman Greg Smith and Steve Lyons, group vice president of North American marketing, sales and service.

My first car was a 67 Mustang Coupe, 2nd one was a 67 Cougar XR-7, 3rd one was a 66 Mustang Coupe. Why did I get rid of these cars for ? I know why, because I'm stupid, stupid, stupid.

My next Ford.....
