New Mustang ragtop to be available in spring of 2005
Fans of the Ford Mustang will have to wait until spring for the arrival of the all-new Mustang convertible, which likely will be badged as a 2006 model. The base convertible is expected to carry a higher base sticker than the hardtop -- possibly close to $25,000 -- while the Mustang GT convertible should be priced at under $30,000.
The base convertible will be powered by a single-overhead-cam 4.0-liter V-6 engine, while the Mustang GT convertible gets a revised SOHC 4.6-liter V-8. The next-generation SVT Cobra convertible, which gets a high-performance twin-cam V-8, likely won't be introduced until model year 2007.
Inside, the Mustang convertible features the same overall retro design theme as the hardtop and will offer choices for customization.
