DETROIT -- Volvo has tacked on between $150 and $1,220 to the sticker prices of its vehicles for the 2006 model year.
Gone from the lineup for 2006 is the C70 convertible. It will be replaced sometime in the future with a new C70, Volvo says.
The Swedish automaker also has dropped the twin turbocharger, 2.9-liter inline six-cylinder engine from its U.S. lineup. The engine was available in the S80 sedan and the XC90 SUV. Volvo also dropped the normally aspirated 2.4-liter inline five-cylinder engine from the S60 line and the T5 trim level from the V70 wagon lineup.
The entry-level S40 sedan carries a base price of $24,450 including shipping charges for 2006. That is up $195 from the current base price of the 2005 model.
The biggest increase came on the S80 line, where prices rose $1,220 for 2006 on front-wheel-drive and all-wheel-drive versions of the sedan.
Volvo has sold 53,675 vehicles in the United States through May, down 4.1 percent from the same period last year.
