LOS ANGELES -- Hans Krondahl, who held several top marketing posts at Volvo Car Corp. and more recently at Saab, will return to Volvo as its North American executive vice president of marketing.
Krondahl replaces Thomas Andersson, who has been promoted to COO of Volvo's Nordic region. That post, which includes the Swedish home market, accounts for about 21 percent of Volvo's global sales. The change is effective in June, but Krondahl already is getting up to speed at Volvo's Irvine, Calif., offices.
At Saab, Krondahl was global market director for Saab Automobile AB's national sales organizations and before that vice president of marketing for Saab Cars USA Inc. He joined Saab in 2001. Earlier, Krondahl had been Volvo Car Corp.'s vice president of global marketing.
Andersson has been Volvo's top U.S. marketing executive since late 2000. Before that, he oversaw Volvo's operations in eastern and central Europe.
Andersson's move comes on the heels of a change at the top of Volvo Cars of North America. On April 1, Anne Belec became CEO, replacing Vic Doolan, who retired.
