Mercury to kill Sable station wagon, Taurus likely next

ATLANTA - Ford Motor Co. is killing the Mercury Sable station wagon, and the Ford Taurus wagon may not be far behind.
A Lincoln Mercury spokesman confirmed that production of the Sable wagon will end in August. Dealers have been notified to put in final orders for the wagon, which account for about 10 percent of Sable sales.
A Ford Division spokesman said the automaker will produce a 2005-model Taurus wagon. He declined to say whether the Taurus wagon would end its run during the model year. But sources at Ford said the company is planning to cease production of the Taurus wagon, probably by January.
