Volvo's Presold All 6,500 SUVs to Be Made This Year
Gothenburg, Sweden, Oct. 24 (Bloomberg) -- Volvo AB has presold all 6,500 of the XC90 sport-utility vehicles to be made this year, with customers placing deposits to reserve them, the Wall Street Journal reported, citing the company.
The vehicle, which will have advanced safety features including rollover sensors and wall-to-wall air bags, could have a big influence on the safety of other SUVs, the Journal said. Ford Motor Co., Gothenburg, Sweden-based Volvo's parent, plans to install the XC90's anti-rollover system in other vehicles, the Journal said.
The XC90, which will cost between $37,000 and $45,000, will arrive in showrooms next month, the Journal said. (WSJ 10-24 D1) For the Journal's Web site, see {WWSJ }.
