As 2001 draws to an end and we head towards an uncertain economic future in 2002 I can't help but wonder what 2002 might bring for the Ford Motor Company.

Here in Australia there is a certain air of excitement about 2002. This is the year, Ford Aust finally lands a blow against the General, but is this misplaced loyalty and what of Ford on a global scale.

On the local scene there is no doubt that management believe they have a product that will appeal. The spy shots look good as does the talk from the people at the top.

Although still in the red Ford Australia has spent big on this new car such is the importance of the new model. Should the 2002 model Falcon fail, the future of Australian born and bred cars might be at the end of the line.

On a global scale we have an new man at the top, one that carries the Ford name. Coming off a diasterous year with recalls and law suits from the Explorer roll over problems, consumer confidence of the Blue Oval is at an all time low. Talks of production cuts and model cancellations are proving frustating to true blue fans world wide. Where will it end?

Hopefully 2002 will be the year to turn things around. As I sit here writing this there are a number of interesting model launches scheduled for the coming year. Hopefully this will be the year to ignite the passion

I just hope they continue to bring out exciting products like the T-Bird and the new Mustang and such.
I just hope Ford don't go into their shells..

Fingers crossed that still happens but more importantly no shortcuts that could be deemed cost cutting that will put the reputation further up the creek.

Mazda, Landrover and Jag all look to be headed for a great year.
There are a number of Ford models that could prove to be huge winners.

Well you just have to look at what they have done with the Bullitt mustang, the upcoming "terminator" mustang and the new T-Bird.
Throw in what they are doing here with the T-series and the coming AV and the pictures looking good.

F-Series: America's best-selling pickup for 25 years, best-selling vehicle for 20 years

E-Series: America's best-selling full-size van for 23 years

Explorer: America's best-selling SUV for 11 years

Escape: America's best-selling small SUV in its first full year of sales
