Ford won't have any exciting new products for the U.S. for several years, but I look for great improvement in quality of the cars they now produce.

Welcome to the board ehaase.

Good point you raise about improvement in quality of exisiting products.

You have a new Mustang to look forward to either late this year or in 2003 don't you?

I have read that the new Mustang has been delayed until 2004, for the 2005 model year, because of Ford's financial problems.

It wouldn't surprise me to see that car come out in April, 2004 to celebrate the 40th anniversary of the Mustang.

Oh I didn't know that. There are rumours going around of model rationalisations and the like but I didn't know the mustang was being pushed back that far.

Supposedly we are getting a new V8 this year for the falcon, si it would surprise me greatly if this new 5.4 didn't find itsway into some of the american models. All alloy with 3 and 4 valve per cylinder heads is the rumour!

Because of the corporate average fuel economy (CAFE) laws in the U.S., we will never get the 5.4L in a car. The 4.6L is the biggest Ford engine we get in a car, although the rumor is that the next generation Mustang will get a 4.9L SOHC and 5.0L DOHC V8. (But other rumors suggest that the Mustang may get the 3.9L DOHC V8 from the Lincoln LS.)

The 2003 Expedition will have a 5.4L with 3 valves per cylinder, and I have read on blueovalnews.com that high performance versions of your Falcon will get this engine.

Many in the U.S. are jealous of your Falcon and wish that Ford would sell it here, at least as a Mercury. Here, we are just stuck with the FWD Taurus, and the RWD Crown Victoria, which sits on a 30 year old platform.

Seems like madness to me. I mean you guys have the LS1 and 6 to compete with just as Ford Aust have.

Believe me, there are plenty of aussies want Ford Aust to export to the US.

As you can imagine we get alot of American folks coming to the FDC and one guy said to me about the XR range "If Ford was to sell these cars in the U.S they would sell the tits of them"
Couldn't have said it better myself.
