My '92 Tbird V6 with 170,000 miles runs great once it gets rolling. In fact it wants to just keep running. Let off the gas and it seems to just float along. It slows down eventually but that's not the real problem (just some background).
The problem is that at a complete stop when I want to go I have to be very careful to sort of 'feather' the accelerator or the engine will die. It has this very slight sputter before it catches and takes off. If I have the steering cranked at all it makes the problem worse.
Any Ideas?

Maybe a vacuum leak? Something to do with timing advacement?

I recently purchased a 95 T-Bird with a 3.8 that had the same problem. I ran a higher octane fuel (91 or higher) than the previous owner (probably 87) and it cleared up and runs great.

Sounds like a throttle position sensor. Check engine light on?

I have this same problem out of my 91 5.0L Bird, and I wondered if maybe it was an Oxygen sensor, cause my check engine light comes on after it warms up. May be running rich or lean and making it die out...Still don't know what's making mine do it.
