My 3.8L is sick.Going to have codes checked this week: but having an excessive lean condition on all cylinders. Came on gradually and getting worse. Spark ping, surging. Fuel press. ok, cleaned throttle body recently, cleaned IAC ports, checked and cleaned EGR port, checked upper plentium bolts, no noticable air leaks. Leaning toward tps and O2 sensors, replaced 1 O2 2 years prior: after replacing head gaskets and reworking heads. DO NOT prefere to pay local dealer--onyone can throw parts at a problem I prefere a diagnosis first!

your bird is 17 years old, correct? Have you checked the cats. a clogged cat causes all sorts of bad crapola. your engine is essentially an air pump. air is drawn in and forced out the rear pipes, however if you exit plan is slowed by a build up of years worth of carbon and other crap the air has no efficient way out. check your cats. if you live in a state where there is no inspection to pass or laws regulating what your exhaust has on it. get rid of them. remember, your engine requires some back pressure. dont go to big on exhaust diam. I would say no more than 2.25. I have a 3.8 93 lx and am currnetly planning exhaust. don't know if duals are the way to go or not. on a v-6 they always sound so ricer/weed eater fart canish. i could be way off base, i'm no mechanic. just a big bird lover.
