Hello all. My first post, lol. My nephew just got a 96 t-bird with the 4.6L. Nice car. It belonged to his great grandfather. It only has 60K miles.

Today it sprang a leak at the back of the intake manifold. I crawled on the motor with a flashlight and a mirror to try and find the leak. There is a black round thing with vent hole in the shape of a fan blade located in the center of the manifold. It looks like the intake runners meet the block at this point as well. What is this black thing? Is it connected to the intake manifold? the water is coming out in this area. Can you guys help me with this?

You manifold is defective. There was a class action lawsuit which resulted in Ford doing a recall on the whole manifold and replacing it with one that has an aluminum crossover. Anyways search for the lawsuit Chamberlain vs. Ford, and of course the recall expired so you'll have to fork out $225 for the part and however much for labor. NOT FUN!!!
