I have a 97 LX 3.8 the engine was cooked so I purchased a rebuilt engine from a 96 mustang I used all of the mustang sensors as they only had 300 miles on them but the car has no take off from a stop and it has all 4 new 02's but bank 1 heated 02 codes rich and lean is there a difference between mustang and thunderbird 3.8 like any of the sensors

Re: 97 lx lack of power

If accleration is flat , first thing I would check would be timing set up correctly .

Re: 97 lx lack of power

I was assuming the fault was since the engine was rebuilt and meant the initial timing set up , but as you wont know , take it as o.k .No air /vacuum / pcv valve / hoses leaking causing it to draw air and run lean ?

Re: 97 lx lack of power

I have replaced every vac, line I can find and sprayed the upper and lower intake gaskets and around throttle body with starting fluid with the car running did not hear any difference but I did notice that the cam sensor is at about a 45 degree difference from my original engine can that make a difference I have heard the Camshaft Synchronizer bushing is a common problem is this something anyone has experienced first hand because o only find that say I KNEW A GUY and we all know how far that can go
