Automatic Seatbelt Problems
Hi everyone,
I am new here on the forum. I have a 91 Thunderbird with the automatic seatbelts. Recently the seatbelt has stopped working. Actually, getting in the car the other day, the seatbelt got kind of tangled up. When the automatic seatbelt was activated, it pulled very tight and I think something broke or came off the track. It is stuck in the foreward position on the track, so that it currently is not functional. I removed some of the interior pannels on the car to see if I could access the mechanism, but couldn't find the problem. Has anyone had any experience with these. I really don't care if I can get it fully working or not. I would be happy if I could just slide the mechanism from its current foreward position to the rear position (where it would normally be when driving). Then I could just manually connect the belt whe driving. Is there some manual release that unlocks the mechanism so that I can slide it back and forth on the track? I am probably getting a new car in about 4-6 months, and don't want to spend the money to replace the whole unit now. Thanks.
