Like it or not...thats what happend. I found a 302 from a 77 bronco for $150...Will it bolt up and work with my trans the way it is? I currently have no car or way to and from work..sucks.

I'm not sure if it will or not. What engine is in it now and what is it from? Is the trans from the same car? Your signiture shows 4.2 and they only came with 3.8 or 5.0.

Oh no...its the 3.8, i had it bored and stroked to a 4.2 last year. The engine is a complete 302 from a 77 bronco. The transmission in my car is the factory AOD. I just want to know if i can swap the engines and scrap my computer. But some people say my trans is controlled by the EEC, but when i look...the only wires going to the trans is for the speedo.

i cant find any cross reference between bronco and tbirds.

You're correct, the trans is not controlled by the PCM. You'd have to do something about the fuel pump. I'm not sure about the bolt pattern and flywheel. Here's a link that's supposed to tell but I'm not sure of it all. List of Ford bellhousing patterns - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

You'd also have to do something about radiator hoses, wiring, exhaust, and motor mounts

The Guy said it comes complete from oil pan to carb. I assum the fuel pump and flywheel come with it as well, but i would really like to use my current flywheel to avoid any problems. But if it bolts up it will work?

Im gonna use flexhose for the radiator hoses, buy the exhaust setup from a junkyard. They have a few tbirds there with 4.9s. I have someone that knows how to do the wiring. Not sure about the mounts tho.

The fuel tank has a fuel pump in the way of the one on the engine pulling fuel.

Oh man that sucks.. My buddy is in the middle of rebuilding his bronco from ground up. Ill ask if it will fit. If he can look at my bird, maybe he can tell me.

Hello

Yes the engine will work.
How-ever the oil pan will not.
Engine mounts will not.

Might have to go carb?? or get wiring from a 91-93 5.0 Thunderbird
Engine mounts also for only the 91-93

You must keep the Flex plate from the 302(5.0) as they are different balance.
Bolt patterns are the same. Both engine mounting & flexplate.

My buddy said the engine should with few changes. Harness and oil pan.
