Re: misfire on downshift?

I never got to go look for a trans, i got called in to work. Since i didnt go, i took off the trans pan. There was no shavings or debree(cant spell) The fluid was still a redish color like it was when i put it in. Took out the magor piece and everything looked in order. Someone said that it might be my TCM. But wouldnt it show up on a scan?

Re: misfire on downshift?

What is the TCM you're referring to ?

It's that there was no shavings or anything in the pan. How long has it been since the last time the tranny fluid was changed ?

Heavily modded thunderbird huh ? Ya know, calling it a turbo V6 is very misleading. Before you make any bold claims you should get it to a track and run it. Afterwards you can do any bragging you want.

Re: misfire on downshift?

Transmission control modual (i think ford calls it something else though)

I changed the fluid and filter around the begining of march.

the turbo dosnt add any hp or tq, it just raises the rpms quicker, and its only at WOT, if im idling and turn it on, its to powerfull and the cars dies

Re: misfire on downshift?

How quickly a motor revs depends mainly on gear ratios and drivetrain components. Turbos and superchargers don't make engines rev faster.

When you're sitting at idle the throttle blade is closed and all the incoming air is routed through the idle air control valve. To have something push a bunch of air at a closed throttle plate is, of course, going to screw with the sensor readings. The maf is telling the ecu that a bunch of air is coming in but the throttle position sensor says the throttle is completely closed. So there lies your problem. That's y the car dies.

And I'd be willing to bet that the electric blower is a big restriction in the intake when at WOT. You'd be surprised how much air that motor needs at WOT.

Re: misfire on downshift?

Today it was 23 outside. I got in and it started right up, and drove fine. After about 15 mins, when the temp guage gets to where it normaly is. It starts acting up. Tomorrow im going to check the trans lines, to see if there is any blockage or any fluid going through them. When it acts up, i notice that the center console is warm. When its not acting up, there is no warmth at all.

You do not have an electronically controlled transmission.

You won't get any transmission codes. And I don't think there is a tcm either.
