Exclamation Odometer failure!

Not really new to this site, been here a few times before reading about various projects, etc. I work on my own vehicles whenever needed and if possible. I have a 93 T-Bird LX with the 3.8L 162,000 mi and a 94 Ranger XLT SC w/4.0L, 156,000mi.

Both still look and run great, but my wife just noticed that the odometer isn't working on the Bird. At first I thought that speedo cable sure did last a long time, but loe and behold that's not the case! The speedo still works, just not the odo.

Never heard or experienced that before! Anyone else?

Any way of getting around replacing the odo in the cluster? I'm talking as in some type of electronic add on gadget that can be attached and used as an odo in place of the speedo's odo? I'd like to avoid taking the cluster out!

Thanks in advance for any suggestions!

Re: Odometer failure!

Replace the cable anyway I THINK the cable is a two in one type of cabel one controlls the speed one the millage.

If this doesn't work then it is possible the gear on the odometer may be bad, unlikly, but possible, causing the very small tooth to not catch and cause the milage to not advance.

Hope this helps,
Mark
