parts interchangeability
Hi, newbie here. Are parts with the same part number interchangeable across different Ford model vehicles? I have a part number F5LF-19E624-AC, which is the a/c blower fan speed control module/resistor for a 96 bird LX 4.6L V8 auto-temp air. I have found this part number listed for Explorers, Expeditions, Blackwoods, etc, but NOT for the t-bird. I have also found a part F3LF-19E624-AD on a '94 bird. It would be nice to know Ford's part numbering scheme. But the question is, do I have to stick with the exact model, or as long as the part number is the same it will work on any model that requires that part number?
I'm doing all this research because this part from Ford is about $250. To save that money, I'm checking salvage yards and am more than happy to pull the part myself (which I like to do anyway). I just need to know which parts work. In my area, right now there are no 96 birds. The closest I could find was 94.
Anyway, this is more long-winded than I planned. If I've fractured any protocols, I apologize.
Much thanks to any & all who respond.
