The correct REFRIGERENT for the A/C system is R-12, more commonly known as FREON. R-134A has no trade name, and is commonly mistakenly called freon. You should see threaded connections on the service ports if it's R-12. If it's been converted to R-134A, you will see quick-connect service fittings.
