confused 2000 Cougar making very loud knocking noise in the engine

hey can anyone help me?

i just bought a 2000 mercury cougar its gorgeous i got it for 5100.00 120km bought it safty and etest i got my licens 3 days ago i drove it the thursday i got my licens then the 2nd day it said low oil so i filled it up then i was driving to my gfs house and it was makin a low clicking noise when i start it and when i rev it or give it gas.then i was stoped at the lights and when it was green i went to go and i had to put the pedal to the floor bc it was hardly moving....then i get to the next lights and go to turn left and as i was turning i hear a really really loud knocking noise in the engine .. i pull into the gas station after i turned,it said low oil again so i fill it up and go to start it and it barly would turn over then when it was started all i can hear is a very very loud knocking noise so i didnt even want to start it any more....my buddy said he thinks its the bottom end but im not sure? can anyone please help me? and beable to tell me a rought cost of it? thanks alot

Aw man that doesnt sound good....I dont know what it could be honestly but i will say if you havnt already looked. Go check Newcougar.org

Very informational site regarding all new cougar's they have TONS of help stuff on that forum. Same basic layout as this forum too so it will be easy for you to get around it.
