I have found a 2000 Cougar to buy for my daughter. This car is very very clean, and only has 78000 miles, with the V-6 and the automatic, along with every option you could get on this car. Well as you might think it has a transmisson issue. As of now it has no forward gear but it does have reverse. The owner stated to me that on day he was going to work and for some reason lost reverse, but had all foward gear. well the next day all gears were working like normal. About a week later he was going to work and the car stopped pulling foward and had to be pulled home. The car still has revers but no foward gears. I checked the fluid but there was nothing on the stick.I am in the process of having it brought to my house. Now what are the chances of the trans range sensor causing all of this. I have seen car loose foward gears, but they will nover come back, the same for the reverse gears once gone they do not come back. I have been reading on all of the issues of this sensor and I feel about 90% positive this is the problem. What are your thoughts on this. Any help would be great
