confused 5.0 conversion

Hi,

I'm trying to figure out what all would have to be done to make my '84 V6 Cougar into a 5.0. I'm wondering this because whenever my engine runs enough to get warm there is smoke that comes from around either the passenger side Valve Covers or the Intake Manifold, maybe somewhere else even. Would it be cheaper to pay a mechanic to basically tear the engine apart to look for a problem and fix it or to go to the closest junkyard and look for a 5.0 w/ auto trans and all the computer stuff to go a long with it?

Any help is appreciated.

Re: 5.0 conversion

I'd find out what it is. It may be a minor repair. Then see what you want to do.
