93 3.8 acceleration and idle problem

93 3.8 non turbo - When i am driving there is not a whole lot of power to the car and when idle it sometimes drops almost low enough to stall. I tried to adjust the idle screw but didnt make a difference. The opposite problems happens as well. Sometimes the car will idle to 1500 rpm. I am wondering if this could be tied to a plugged cat or maybe a tps. I replaced the tps about a year ago but the car has always had the idle problem since i bought it a year ago. it also will throw a code once in a while but always clears. any thoughts?
