Re: 94 cougar 3.8 4.6 swap?

If it'll fit between the wheel wells it's doable. Might have to make some changes to the driveshaft to make it work. You'll need the PCM from the 4.6 engine as well. Be sure to upgrade the front suspension or your handling will be nil even at lower speeds.

The V6 and V8 mounts aren't very similar if I remember. All you have to do is get some V8 mounts though. T-bird and cougar are identical (assuming they're both MN12's)

Re: 94 cougar 3.8 4.6 swap?

This may be slightly out of place, but I am doing the same thing with my 91 Cougar. 3.8 for 5.0 H.O. The actual welded motor mounts on the engine cross member may be different which means you may be either cutting and welding or changing your K member from a doner car. I'm sure I'm stating the obvious but also things like power steering lines and fuel lines will be different. When you swich computers, if the gauge clusters are different you will have to change the wiring harness in the dash as the plug in's will be different. My doner car has analog custers, my reciever has digi, because I need the doner computer I'm going to have to use the doner wiring and cluster. With my Cougar the rad between the 3.8l and the 5.0 are the same but don't know about the 4.6l.
