Hello to everyone as I am new here. I have a 96 mercury cougar 4.6 V8 Auto of course. the car keeps blowing the fuse under the hood for the fuel pump, I thought that the Fuel pump was bad so I bought a new one put it in replaced the fuse turn the key and bang the fuse blows again. I was driving and the car just quit running and keeps blowing the fuse. It has a new fuel pump and fuel filter but thats obviously not the problem. Any help would be very much appreciated. Thanks

If it blows without turning the key on it's in the black/yellow wire. If not, unplug the inertia fuel shut off switch and turn the key on. If it blows then, it's in the pink/black wire to the CCRM and PCM. If it doesn't blow then, it's in the dark green/yellow wire to the fuel pump.

I am thinking about just hotwiring the fuel pump is there anything I should know about this before I do it? What all would I need to do this?

That would be a dangerous situation in case of an accident, unless you mean to test the system Did you do those tests I mentioned?
