97 Mercury Cougar XR7 - worth it?

Hello All,

I am new to this forum and I have a question about a car I am considering purchasing. A nearby dealer has a 97 Mercury Cougar 30th Anniversary XR7 with the 4.6 V8 selling for $2000 reduced from $2400. The problem is there are some emissions codes being thrown and I would have to get those fixed (obd2 emissions testing here).

The codes are PO135, PO141, PO155, PO161 and PO402. I know that the PO135-PO161 are O2 sensor heater problems and the PO402 is an EGR issue. My question is, is it worth it to get this car and get those issues fixed or should I look elsewhere? Is is possible for all 4 O2 sensors to go bad at the same time or am I probably going to have to follow and fix the heating circuit? Any ideas on what to do with the EGR issue? Again I want to note that I currently do not have the car, I am considering whether to purchase.

I essentially am looking for a cheap backup car (my current car has over 200,000 miles and I would like to not put so many more miles on it so it will last for another year or two at least) and I thought this would be a fun 2nd car to have. That being said if I am looking at another $1000 or more to fix it really wouldn't be worth it. Heck I don't want to spend much more than $500 to get the car running right. I thank you all in advance for the help.
