Hi, I'm new. I'm good with my hands so fixing it's issues isn't a big deal, but is there much difference engine/performance wise between the 4 years? and is possible to switch out the stock v6 for the contour svt's v6? one last thing. Is it possible to get a turbocharger slapped into this if it is an automatic?

Most of the changes seem to have been cosmetic.

The SVT engine is the exact same block - IIRC the main differences were the computer, cylinder heads, and cams, plus bolt on sorts of stuff. I've even seen engines pieced together from a Taurus 3.0 combined with a SVT 2.5 and dropped in one of these cars.

I'm not sure if there are any bolt on turbo kits for this particular car, but you can turbo almost anything with enough time and money.

Thank you very much, man! Think I could drop a 3.0L taurus engine in there if it were a 99'-02' or no? I know some modifications would have to be made, but it seems feasible. Just for some more, you know, balls.

You're welcome. The engine should fit from what I hear but wiring it up may be a challenge.
